Vogel had recently intended to make his mark in German politics by pursuing a parliamentary seat. He was compelled to withdraw his candidacy from the conservative Alliance of Germany party after a sex scandal came to light.

The scandal did not require investigation or evidence gathering, as the politician himself presented everything on a silver platter.

Bernd Vogel, with astonishing enthusiasm, commented on erotic models' photos on websites and social media. He often did so in an exceptionally crude manner, using not so much direct as rather revolting descriptions of what he wished to do with the young women displaying their charms.

The politician's licentious lifestyle might have gone unnoticed if not for the fact that he posted all the comments from his official profile on Platform X, making them accessible to all users of the site.

For party colleagues and potential voters, the outrage was not so much about the aspiring parliamentarian's use of erotic websites, but rather the language he used towards women much younger than himself.

After the scandal emerged, Vogel posted a brief message online, in which he apologised for the comments he made and announced his withdrawal from the elections.
