German airports crippled by federal police system failure

The "BILD" portal reports a significant failure that has impacted all airports across Germany. On Friday afternoon, the computer systems used by the federal police ceased functioning. It remains uncertain whether this will lead to any delays in arrivals. Media have reported that security checks and some check-ins have been halted due to this issue.

- Our colleagues now have to complete many tasks manually, which the system previously handled. We are currently working hard to resolve the issue, though the cause of the disruption is still unknown, - said a federal police spokesman responsible for Frankfurt Airport, in an interview with "BILD".

Meanwhile, WDR has reported lengthy queues in the security area of Düsseldorf Airport, with some passengers waiting for up to two hours. The airport has stated that it is currently not possible to enter Germany from non-Schengen areas.

The Schwaebische portal also mentions the growing queues in the security area, where officers verify passengers' documents.

It is currently uncertain how long these disruptions will last. Additionally, the cause of the nationwide failure is still unknown.
