From returning orange juice to winning $315m: A lottery miracle
This story is so incredible that it's hard to believe it actually happened. Living in New Jersey, Tayeb Souami bought some orange juice, but at his wife's urging, he decided to return it due to the product's exorbitant price. On his way back from the store, he decided to play the lottery...
This tale dates back to 2018 when the not-so-wealthy American and his family had to be very frugal, to the point where they couldn't even afford to buy overpriced orange juice.
After Tayeb initially brought home a bottle of the expensive drink, his wife sent him back to the store to return the item they deemed too costly.
Thanks to this, an unexpected change occurred in Tayeb Souami's family. He returned to the store to get back the $5 spent on the juice and, following his wife's instructions, to find a cheaper drink.
Passing by a popular Powerball lottery outlet in the USA, he decided to try his luck and bought two tickets. According to ladbible.com, Tayeb did not expect to win and quickly forgot about his purchase.
A few days later, while washing his car, he remembered the tickets and decided to check if any fortune had come his way.
The first ticket turned out to be a dud, but upon scanning the second one, a message appeared instructing him to contact the clerk at the Powerball outlet.
Upon seeing his ticket, the startled cashier repeatedly exclaimed, "Oh my God," before finally informing Tayeb that he had won a very large sum. By purchasing a random lottery ticket, he had scooped the grand prize, and $315 million was credited to his account.
Since then, Tayeb has humorously stated in interviews that he has grown very fond of orange juice, and thanks to the win, he can be at ease about his family's future and his children's education.
