Twelve bakers made the longest baguette in the world, measuring about 140 metres or 461 feet. The gentlemen began work at 2 AM GMT and prepared the bread over 14 hours.
The baguette is about 235 times longer than the traditional one we can buy in a store. The bake was created in Suresnes on the outskirts of Paris during an event organized for French bakers and confectioners.
Everything has been validated, we are all very happy to have beaten this record and that it was done in France – said one of the bakers, Anthony Arrigault, shortly after the record was confirmed.
Especially kneaded and shaped for this occasion, the dough was baked in a slow-turning oven on wheels built for this bake. Everything took place in a long tent set up for the duration of the event.
