Former Manchester United star Anderson sentenced to jail over unpaid child support
Anderson's career wasn’t supposed to take this turn. Once considered one of the world's greatest football talents, the Brazilian was even hailed by Manchester United scouts as better than Rooney. His career ended in 2019, and now he has been sentenced to prison for failing to pay child support.

According to The Sun, the former Manchester United star will face jail for owing £45,000 in child support.
Although the decision was made last week, it has only just been revealed. The 36-year-old could avoid the sentence if he clears his outstanding debt.
Anderson, who retired at 31, won four Premier League titles with Manchester United after his move from Porto in July 2007. He also played for Fiorentina in Italy and Internacional in Brazil.
A court in his hometown of Porto Alegre ruled that the former Brazilian international must serve 30 days in jail unless he settles his child support debt.
Anderson was offered the option of serving his time in a "semi-open" system, allowing him to work or study during the day while returning to prison at night, reports GZH.
His problems began three years ago when he was accused of laundering £4.6 million through cryptocurrency. He was one of eight individuals investigated by the state prosecutor in connection with a scam targeting the national stock exchange, according to Globo.
