Nuggets are a must-have on many children's menus. These meaty bites are a safe option for picky eaters, though adults also find them appealing. Preparing nuggets in another equally tasty way is a fascinating way to refresh your diet and introduce something new.

They appear in fast food joints, reign at parties, and are a mandatory item in many restaurants' "for kids" sections. Children worldwide have fallen in love with meaty bites in a crunchy coating. However, fish, which are also undervalued in the diet of adults, are much less prevalent. An excellent trick to sneak them into the menu is to serve them as delicious, crunchy nuggets. Instead of chicken, opt for white fish.

Fish nuggets

Forget about artificial breading and frozen mixes, whose ingredients are not always what you'd like. Preparing fish nuggets is simple. Even picky eaters will be tempted by such a dinner, and at parties, they disappear in no time.

Unlike ready-made frozen products, homemade fish nuggets are based on fresh fish, which makes them much more flavourful. Making fish nuggets is straightforward and doesn't take much time. It's an ideal idea for a quick and healthy dinner for the whole family. It's worth reaching for panko, coarse, Japanese breading, or crushed cornflakes for breading. However, you can also choose regular breadcrumbs, which will be just as tasty.

Ingredients:

  • 4 white fish fillets, such as cod loin,
  • flour for breading,
  • egg,
  • panko or breadcrumbs,
  • salt and pepper to taste,
  • oil for frying.

Preparation:

  1. Rinse the cod fillets and pat them dry with a paper towel. Cut them into large chunks and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Prepare three plates: one with flour, one with a beaten egg, and one with panko.
  3. Bread the fish pieces in flour, egg, and panko, ensuring they are well-coated. You can double-coat them if desired.
  4. Heat the oil in a pan.
  5. Fry the nuggets in batches on each side for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  6. Lay the nuggets on a paper towel to drain excess oil.

Serve the finished nuggets with chips and your favourite coleslaw. Enjoy!
