Hello! Today, I want to show you that green beans can be served differently than we've known for years. The recipe for the French version of this dish has recently taken over my home and my family's taste buds. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

French cuisine is one of the world's most well-known and respected culinary segments. It was once synonymous with culinary mastery, and chefs with a French accent became the epitome of the art of cooking. To be completely honest with you, I've never been an unreflective fan of this cuisine. I've tried various dishes, and I must admit that dishes from Italy and Japan taste better. Of course, there are some exceptions, which I want to share with you today.

Recently, during a conversation about green beans (of which I am a true enthusiast), a friend of the chef suggested that I try its French version. Does this recipe come from the Loire? Once again, I'll be honest: I’m not entirely sure. Nevertheless, I must admit that this version of green beans is genuinely amazing. And I'm saying this as an absolute connoisseur of serving this vegetable in breadcrumbs.

Below, I present the recipe, which worked perfectly in my home. I recommend giving it a chance. I did, and I don't regret it!

Ingredients:

  • 450 grams of green beans,
  • olive oil,
  • 1-2 shallots,
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice,
  • salt to taste,
  • a pinch of nutmeg,
  • 1/2 bunch of parsley.

Preparation:

  1. Trim the ends and any fibres from the green beans. Click here for detailed instructions on how to do this.
  2. Transfer the green beans to a pot and add approximately 1 litre of water. Cook until the vegetables soften but remain firm and fairly crunchy.
  3. Meanwhile, sauté the chopped shallots in preheated olive oil. Then add the cooked green beans, seasoning with salt, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  4. Fry over medium heat. Once the green beans are appetisingly browned, add the chopped parsley and immediately remove from heat. Done!
