Fire aboard Air Busan flight: 176 evacuated, three injured

On Tuesday, a passenger plane caught fire at the international airport in Busan, South Korea. As a result of the incident, three people were injured, reports the Yonhap agency.

The local fire department reported that an Air Busan plane, en route to Hong Kong from Gimhae International Airport in Busan, caught fire. The fire was detected in the rear of the aircraft at about 13:26 GMT. The Yonhap agency reports that all passengers, totalling 169, along with seven crew members, evacuated using the inflatable slide and exited the plane.

176 people evacuated

The fire department stated that the first rescue units arrived at the scene at 13:34 GMT. "We believe that all 176 people were evacuated, but we searched the interior of the aircraft just in case," the spokesperson said.

During the evacuation, three people suffered minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire managed to spread to the rest of the aircraft, engulfing the entire fuselage.
