John Amos, known from the sitcom "Good Times" and the film "Die Hard 2," passed away at the age of 84. The actor's death was announced in early October. It has now emerged that Amos actually died many days earlier, which was deliberately concealed.

John Amos was one of the American legends. He had credits in productions such as "Coming to America," "Die Hard 2," "Roots" and he could also be seen in "Uncut Gems" on Netflix. Many fans regard him as their television father. "He lived a good life. His legacy will live on in his outstanding works in television and film as an actor. My father loved working as an actor throughout his entire life. He was my dad, my best friend, and my hero. Thank you for your prayers and support at this time," said the actor's son, Kelly Christopher Amos.

Controversies surrounding the actor's death - some family members have doubts

Family and close friends of John Amos have spoken out about the circumstances of the actor's death. The leading figures in the controversy are the actor's daughter, Shannon Amos, and his son, Kelly Christopher "K.C." Amos, who is accused of withholding key information from the rest of the family.

According to a statement published on Facebook by the actor's daughter and goddaughter, Amy Goudy, part of the family learned of Amos's death 45 days earlier only through the media, sparking their suspicions. The statement suggested that K.C. did not inform the family and implied that the swift cremation of the actor might have been intended to prevent any investigation into the cause of death.

Amos's long-time spokesperson Belinda Foster remarked in a statement to "People" that the allegations are unfounded. According to her, the actor's son and she herself took care of Amos until the very end and worked collaboratively with him. She revealed that the delay in announcing his death was at the actor's request. "At the time of his death, John was concerned that Shannon might turn his death and interment into a circus as she had done with other aspects of his life," said the actor's spokesperson.

According to a document obtained by "People," John Amos's death occurred on 21 August in California. The cause was heart failure. His body was cremated nine days later, and the person responsible for reporting the death and having the right to the ashes was his son, K.C. Amos.

The siblings had already been in conflict over their father. The sister accused the brother of abusing their father, even setting up online fundraisers to collect money for the care of their famous dad. At John Amos's own request, they were removed. Today, the woman's accusations are repeated. According to Goudy and Shannon, the actor was isolated, manipulated, and likely coerced into making changes to his will. The actor's spokesperson stated there are no grounds to claim that anything untoward was happening to the actor before his death. The police had already investigated this matter earlier and found nothing suspicious. She emphasised that family relations had been complicated for a long time.

As of now, according to police information, the investigation into the alleged abuse of Amos has not been reopened.
