Eurovision 2024 was not without its controversies. The issues weren't limited to political gestures or the extravagant personas of some participants but were also about the unexpected disqualification of the Netherlands' representative, Joost Klein. He could not perform in the final, sparking many rumours about what transpired behind the scenes of the event.

Though Eurovision has concluded, the saga involving Klein continues and seems to be just getting started. Recent Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet" updates suggest that the Dutch artist will soon stand trial. His departure from Sweden is seemingly irrelevant to the case’s progress.

The newspaper also spoke with a witness of the behind-the-scenes incident. According to their report, the Dutch representative attempted to punch one of the photographers and damaged her camera because she encroached on his personal space. However, he did not physically harm the woman. Klein had previously voiced that the presence of photographers caused him stress and firmly requested no photos be taken of him, a plea that was disregarded.

He was undoubtedly very aggressive, as observed by several individuals present - a witness recounted.

Aftonbladet suggests that Klein soon regretted his actions. Witnesses say he repeatedly apologized for his behaviour, though it remains uncertain if the photographer received his apologies directly. According to Andersson, the first hearing in Joost's case could be scheduled as soon as the beginning of June.

In addition, the paper notes that Joost "partially admitted his guilt," specifically regarding the gesture made towards the woman. Yet, the artist has not publicly commented on the issue.
