Soccer fever has gripped the British. For the next few weeks, you can follow the struggles of European soccer players while comfortably settling down in front of the TV. To make it more pleasant and tasty, I serve a simple puff pastry roll during this time.

Puff pastry is truly a very versatile product. You can prepare it sweet or savoury, and it usually takes less than a few minutes to prepare. A crispy, flaky pastry snack is a must during the European Football Championship. I serve my homemade fans a delicious roll with a simple cheese, ham, and pickles filling. It even beats crisps!

Puff pastry roll - a simple snack recipe for the game

Not just what's on TV matters, but also what's on the table. It's worth spicing up the soccer cheering with simple snacks. My husband loves this puff pastry roll, and I don't blame him. It's simple and delicious.

It quickly satisfies the appetite during the game, and I don't spend much time preparing it. All it takes is a few simple ingredients and a short time in the kitchen to create an aromatic snack that will delight all fans. You can add other ingredients like onion, bell pepper, or corn to the filling.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package puff pastry
  • 115 grams of sliced ham
  • 3-4 mushrooms
  • 115 grams of sliced yellow cheese (I recommend Gouda, Edam, or Muenster)
  • 4 pickles
  • 1 egg
  • sesame seeds (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons honey mustard

Instructions:

  1. Unroll the puff pastry sheet on the counter. It's best to take it out of the fridge about 15 minutes beforehand. When it reaches room temperature, it will be pliable and will not crumble.
  2. Spread the honey mustard on the pastry.
  3. Layer the slices of ham, cheese, and mushrooms, and add the pickles cut into long slices.
  4. Tightly roll up the pastry so the ingredients don't fall out during baking.
  5. Brush the puff pastry with the beaten egg. This will allow it to become appetisingly golden during baking. You can also sprinkle it with white or black sesame seeds.
  6. Bake in the oven, preheated to 175°C for about 20 minutes, until the pastry is golden and crispy.

Cut the finished roll into slices. It tastes great both warm and cold. Enjoy!
