EU set to sanction individuals over Alexei Navalny's death
On Monday, during the meeting of the heads of foreign affairs of the EU member states in Brussels, it is expected that a political agreement will be reached regarding the imposition of sanctions on individuals and entities responsible for the death of Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny, according to a high-ranking European source in Brussels.

A source from the Polish Press Agency anticipates that the proposal made on Monday will gain support and that the finalization of the procedure can be expected within the following few days.
EU to impose sanctions after Navalny's death
In mid-February, Josep Borrell, the head of EU diplomacy, announced that the member states of the European Union are set to propose sanctions in light of Navalny's death. He also stated that Vladimir Putin holds the most responsibility for the death of the Russian oppositionist.
The unexplained death in a Russian penal colony
On February 16th, Russian prison authorities announced that Alexei Navalny, imprisoned for three years, had died in a penal colony beyond the Arctic Circle. Navalny was 47 years old at the time of his death.
The statement from the Russian services mentioned that Navalny became unwell after a walk and almost immediately lost consciousness. "The penal institution's medical staff arrived at the scene immediately, and emergency services were called. Despite all necessary resuscitation efforts, they were unsuccessful," the statement read.
Navalny, whose death in the camp remains unexplained, was serving a 19-year prison sentence, with the possibility of facing up to 30 years. His death was mourned by thousands.
