Ellie Goulding turns heartbreak into music amid tumultuous year
Ellie Goulding is about to turn 38. The British singer and songwriter has had a challenging year. Her marriage ended, and she was also forced to sell her beloved home, losing millions in the process. However, she's concluding 2024 on a positive note. Fans are already showing excitement.
At the start of 2024, a significant scandal surrounded the multi-award-winning singer Ellie Goulding. Paparazzi captured her in passionate kisses with surfing instructor Armando Perez in Costa Rica. Shortly afterwards, the star's husband, art dealer Caspar Jopling, was seen without his wedding ring.
Speculations about a marital crisis, followed by the end of their relationship four and a half years after their wedding, became increasingly persistent. Eventually, the couple couldn't withstand the pressure and issued a statement. In his February 2024 post, Jopling emphasised that they had already decided to part ways some time ago and that their family and friends were aware of it.
"Caspar and I have separated"
"I feel I have been left with no choice but to let you all know that Caspar and I privately separated some time ago. We remain the closest of friends and have been successfully co-parenting with our sons best interests at heart. We are committed to protecting our family privacy and thank people in advance for respecting our wishes - we won't be commenting further. Thank you," wrote Ellie Goulding on Instagram.
Following the separation from her husband, Goulding was officially linked with Perez, who is eight years her junior, but their relationship failed to stand the test of time. The surfing instructor from Costa Rica was used to a quiet life, and the surrounding buzz overwhelmed him. Ultimately, they went their separate ways.
Ellie Goulding lost millions
Another blow for Ellie Goulding in 2024 was having to sell her London townhouse in the Mayfair area at a significant loss. The five-storey building with four bedrooms was initially bought for approximately £3.1 million. When she decided to sell it, it was valued at about £6 million, but Goulding had to start lowering the price, especially after her separation. The buyer eventually paid £2.6 million, so the star lost a fortune on it.
However, the unfortunate year ends on a positive note for the singer. She shared with fans that she's working on a new album. She decided to channel her experiences into new music, drawing inspiration from her life. The album is set to be released in 2025.
