Does your hair dryer smell like it's burning right after turning it on? Don't worry; nothing is on fire. The device isn't broken, either. How to remove the smell of burning from the dryer? What to do to prevent your hair from smelling? We advise.

Hair dryer is one of the devices found in almost every home. It's very easy to operate and it has to be said, it really makes life easier. It only takes a few moments for the hair to become dry and voluminous from the roots.

It happens that a burning smell starts to come out of the dryer. In such a situation, most of us immediately disconnect the device, fearing a fire. What does the burning smell from a dryer mean? Is something broken? Turns out, no, and the bad smell can be easily removed.

How to properly dry your hair?

Have you ever wondered how a hair dryer works? Inside the device is a heating element and a fan that directs warm air so that it escapes to the outside. Modern dryers have an ionisation function, preventing fussiness and static in strands.

A dryer does not damage hair as long as it is used properly. To correctly dry your hair, apply protective oil to the ends after washing and draining it. You can also spray it with a heat protection spray to protect the strands from high temperatures.

Turn on the device and direct it along the hair fibres, from the roots to the ends. Use cool air and keep the device at least 30 centimetres away from the scalp. Follow these rules every time you use the dryer, and your strands will be in good condition for a long time.

Hair dryer smells like burning? Here's how to solve the problem

When you turn on the hair dryer, a burning smell comes out of the device. Don't panic. The dryer is not broken. The unpleasant smell is caused by dirt. Dust, dirt, and residue from cosmetics accumulate in the fan. Excess dirt can lead to the dryer overheating, which results in a burning smell.

How to clean a dryer? Disconnect the device from the power and let it cool down completely. Open the back part of the dryer and remove the filter from it. Wash it under running water and dry it with a paper towel. Wait another 10 minutes to be sure that the filter is dry, and after that time, put it back. If the dryer does not have a filter, use a toothbrush and sweep all the dust from inside. Now you know how to clean a hair dryer.
