Ducati's final tribute: Panigale v2 Superquadro special edition unveiled
Ending the production of a model always calls for launching a final special edition. However, in the case of the Ducati Panigale V2, it's something more. The Superquadro Final Edition is a tribute to an extraordinary engine.
The two-cylinder V-twin power unit with a desmodromic valve system and four valves per cylinder that we know today has evolved over 30 years and has been used in machines such as the 748, 749, 848, 899, and 959 and is currently in the Panigale V2. The first engine, the Superquadro, was introduced in 2011 in the 1199 Panigale model.
The engine's name comes from the ratio between the cylinder diameter and the piston stroke, which, with a capacity of 79 cubic inches, allowed for high maximum power delivery for a two-cylinder engine. It has evolved over the years and is also the basis for versions with smaller displacements, first 55 cubic inches and then 58 cubic inches, which were able to win the first Supersport World Championship title for Ducati in 2023 with Nicolò Bulega and win the MotoAmerica Supersport Championship in 2022 and 2023.
The evolution of this engine has reached its finale, and to celebrate, or rather honour, this, the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition has been introduced. This limited edition of 555 units can be immediately recognized by its special paintwork with the engine diagram on the side. This version also features a front and rear mudguard, as well as a carbon fibre exhaust tip.
The motorcycle is configured for a single rider, and adjustable aluminum footrests supplied by Rizoma indicate its sporting application. This model also has a lighter lithium-ion battery. Highlights of the special edition include a new welcome animation on the screen and a serial number located on the upper clamp for each unit. For those who want to ride the Panigale V2 Superquadro Final Edition on the track, there is the option to install a kit for removing the licence plate holder and mirrors and a racing aluminum fuel tank cap.
