Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's oldest biological daughter, Shiloh, turned 18 in May. Even then, there were talks that Shiloh wanted to forgo her father's surname and keep only her mother's surname. According to California law, a person who wants to make such a change must publish the request in a national newspaper's classified section and wait for the court's decision.
Shiloh didn't delay her decision. She applied just three days after her 18th birthday. American media reported that she obtained court approval and can go through Shiloh Jolie. She is another child of the star-studded couple to distance herself from her famous father symbolically.
Children distance themselves from Pitt
Angelina and Brad were one of the most famous couples in the world. Their romance began on the set of the movie "Mr. & Mrs. Smith." In 2006, the couple's first child, Shiloh, was born. In the meantime, the couple jointly adopted a girl, Zahara. Pitt also signed documents making him the legal guardian of Maddox, whom Angelina had adopted before her relationship with the actor. All the children received the surname Jolie-Pitt in their documents.
In 2007, Pax from Vietnam joined the family, and in 2008, Jolie gave birth to twins Knox and Vivienne. In 2012, the star couple got engaged, and in 2014, they got married. By 2016, divorce papers were filed in court.
Since then, a real war has been raging between Angelina and Brad. Jolie accused her ex-partner of physical and psychological abuse. The couple communicates only through lawyers. They are fighting over their assets and children, who seem to side with the actress. Although they have not officially applied for document changes, Zahara and Vivienne have stopped using their father's surname during public appearances.
