Conjoined twins Abby and Brittany Hensel navigate love and work
Abby and Brittany Hensel are among the most recognized conjoined twins in the world. They recently announced to the world that one of them got married. What does their daily life look like? It is not without unusual situations.
The 34-year-old conjoined twins strive to lead a normal life. Abby and Brittany Hensel have separate hearts, lungs, brains, and stomachs. As they claim, they also have their souls. They share a common circulatory system, limbs, and... a salary. The sisters teach at a school and receive a single paycheck, though they have separate diplomas.
The most famous conjoined twins in the world. The whole world follows their fates
The sisters separated themselves with a book while taking exams. Even though they have separate academic qualifications, they share one teacher's salary. They teach fifth-grade children in one of the schools in Minnesota.
"Of course, we were aware of this because we do the job of one person. As we gain experience, we would like to negotiate a bit, considering that we have two degrees and are able to present two different perspectives or teach in two different ways," Abby explained in an interview with the BBC.
Brittany added that working in such a two-person team, they can teach, answer questions, and closely monitor what is happening in the classroom simultaneously. "In this sense, we do more than one person," she added. The conjoined twins graduated in education from Bethel University in 2012.
One or two?
Not only is the salary accounting troublesome in the case of conjoined twins, but the sisters occupy one seat on an airplane despite having two separate passports. Although they have one body, they took the driving test separately. It is worth adding that Abby coordinates the movement of the right limbs and Brittany the left.
Also interesting is the marital status of the Hensel sisters. Abby is married to a nurse and an American Army veteran, Josh Bowling.
