CIA Director William J. Burns visited Ukraine on Thursday, 22nd February - reports "The New York Times". The visit was shrouded in secrecy.

As per "NYT", Ukrainians are concerned that the US will cease funding for Kiev's military expenditures. Republicans in Congress are extremely critical of assistance to Ukraine. Some have hinted that Americans were able to retreat quite rapidly, for instance, from Afghanistan. Hence, Kyiv fears similar behaviour in their nation.

CIA offers reassurance to Ukrainians

Burns' visit - the 10th since the conflict began - was intended to reassure Ukrainians and affirm the US's ongoing support for their country.

"For many years, we have exhibited a firm commitment to Ukraine, and this visit was another powerful sign that the US commitment will continue," says an anonymous source from the "NYT" within the CIA.
