Chokeberry is a natural superfruit. It's worth having a supply in your home pantry, as it has antibacterial and antiviral properties. It's also a valuable source of antioxidants, including vitamin C, which is extremely important for our health.
Why is it worth drinking chokeberry juice?
These small dark fruits are a valuable weapon in the fight against seasonal infections, but that's not all. Chokeberry also helps with hypertension, so it is especially recommended for people who struggle with this issue and those at risk of heart disease. Moreover, chokeberry lowers blood glucose levels and supports insulin production. For diabetics, it's worth remembering to consume fresh fruits or homemade products without added sugar.
Regular drinking of chokeberry juice improves the appearance of skin, hair, and nails. Thanks to its antioxidant content, chokeberry helps fight free radicals, one of the main factors accelerating the ageing process. Chokeberry juice also has a positive impact on our nervous system. It protects against dementia, reduces the effects of stress, improves mood, and boosts energy.
Chokeberry juice is an ally of our digestive system. It supports the work of the stomach, liver, and pancreas. It detoxifies the body, improves metabolism, and helps eliminate food residues from the large intestine. It also helps with bloating, stomach pains, and constipation. Chokeberry also contains tannins, which have antibacterial properties and anti-cancer properties. Thanks to this, they can play a significant role in cancer prevention.
Homemade sugar-free chokeberry juice recipe
Ingredients:
- Around 2 to 2.5 kg of chokeberries (from this amount, you will get about a litre of juice)
- Juice squeezed from 1 lemon
Preparation:
- Place the chokeberries into freezer bags and freeze them for 48 hours. This will remove the bitterness from the fruits.
- After this time, rinse the fruits under warm running water.
- Blend the fruits and then strain through a cloth-lined sieve. You can also extract the juice using a juicer or juice extractor.
- Add the lemon juice to the squeezed chokeberry juice and mix thoroughly. Then, pour the resulting juice into sterilised jars or bottles.
- Sterilise the jars in cold water for 25 minutes from when the water starts to boil (then reduce the heat).
- After sterilisation, place the jars upside down on a cloth and let them cool for at least 24 hours. Store in a shaded place.
