China's 'megaplex': Military base ten times the Pentagon's size
Agents of the American intelligence services have identified a remarkably sizeable military infrastructure in China through satellite images. This was constructed near Beijing. The "Chinese Pentagon" is reportedly at least ten times larger than the American equivalent.
The Chinese military complex, built 30 kilometres from the capital, was observed by the Sentinel-2 probe of the European Space Agency. The photographs suggest that the Chinese commenced the project's implementation last year.
The construction of this enormous complex began, according to satellite image analysis, in mid-2024. The development spans an area of approximately 6 square kilometres (or over 840,000 football pitches).
A Chinese military complex is emerging. It is to be 10 times larger than the Pentagon
According to the "Financial Times," it is possible that China has incorporated reinforced bunkers within this complex. These might be designed to protect commanding personnel from nuclear attacks.
There is nothing unusual about this Chinese precaution and preparedness for nuclear conflict. After all, the People's Republic of China is among the nine countries possessing nuclear weapons.
Lyle Morris from the Asia Society Policy Institute recalls events from the late '60s in China, when Mao Zedong and his closest associates hid underground during a severe conflict with the Soviet Union.
The inauguration of the new military complex near Beijing might take place in 2027. This coincides with the centennial celebration of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
