The combination of egg salad and horseradish is a delightful pairing worth including when preparing snacks for a name-day celebration. Horseradish salad pairs excellently with cold meats and is often the first to disappear from the party tables.

In many households, the distinctive taste of horseradish salad has become more popular than the traditional vegetable salad. The primary ingredient, horseradish, adds a spicy kick to the dish. This salad complements cold meats and is an excellent addition to stuffed eggs or tortilla rolls.

The best name day salad. Simple and full of flavour

Horseradish salad is an excellent accompaniment to various types of meat, particularly on a name-day table. The characteristic taste and intense horseradish aroma blend well with the other salad ingredients. It is essential, however, not to overdo it with its quantity. A small amount is enough to enhance the overall flavour.

Horseradish has been added to cold meats for many years. You can tone it down with sour cream, eggs, or mayonnaise if it tastes too intense. Horseradish also positively impacts the digestive system, stimulating the secretion of digestive juices and facilitating food absorption. Additionally, it improves gallbladder function and stimulates intestinal peristalsis, reducing the risk of constipation, bloating, and heartburn.

Horseradish salad for name day. Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 tablespoons grated horseradish,
  • 200g of yellow cheese,
  • 6 hard-boiled eggs,
  • 2 apples,
  • 1 tin of corn,
  • 3 tablespoons of mayonnaise + optionally 1 tablespoon of yoghurt,
  • salt and pepper,
  • fresh dill or chives.

Preparation:

  1. Separate the cooked egg whites from the yolks. Dice the egg whites.
  2. Dice the apples (you can peel them, but they are unnecessary).
  3. Drain the corn.
  4. Grate the yellow cheese using a fine grater and mix it with the yolks, mayonnaise, and grated horseradish. If the mixture is too thick, add some natural yoghurt.
  5. Add the diced apples, egg whites, and drained corn to the mixture. Mix everything and season with salt and pepper.
  6. Place the horseradish salad in the refrigerator for a few hours. Before serving, sprinkle with chopped dill or chives.
