In light of the strained relations with the USA, Canadian politicians are weighing the advantages of closer cooperation with the EU. Earlier this year, in January, "The Economist" discussed this topic, highlighting the opportunity to update alliances.

The former Deputy Premier of Alberta, Thomas Lukaszuk, emphasises that Poland could bring Canada closer to the EU.

Experts cited by CBC indicate the low probability of Canada attaining full EU membership but highlight the potential for cooperation within the "European neighbourhood." During discussions with the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, Canada's Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, underscored the importance of close economic collaboration between Canada and the EU.
