According to data from the General Police Headquarters, burglaries increase yearly. Last year, as many as 40,000 such offences were recorded. Most of these occur in summer when we go on holiday. A moment of inattention can be enough for a burglary to occur.
How can you protect yourself from burglary? There are several different ways, but starting with the cheapest option is worth it. You most likely already have the necessary item at home.
Wrap the door handle with foil. You will sleep peacefully
Aluminium foil is a product we all have in our homes. We usually use it for baking, but it has many more uses than might be expected. A piece of foil can replace greaseproof paper, and when wrapped in foil and thrown into the washing machine drum, it can replace fabric softener.
It turns out that aluminium foil has one more unusual use that can prevent theft. Wrap it around the outside door handle and secure it with adhesive tape. If a thief tries to get inside, a handprint will be left on the foil. In the event of an attempted burglary, it is worth implementing additional security measures such as an alarm or camera.
Don't forget to inform your neighbours about this so they can be on the lookout. If there is another attempted break-in in the block, don't hesitate to report it to the police. This trick will also work during holidays, for example, while staying in a hotel or guesthouse.
Spread on the board. Speed up ironing
Aluminium foil is a versatile product with versatile uses at home and in the kitchen. It can soften water in the washing machine or dishwasher. Place it inside the appliance and set the programme of your choice. The foil will prevent streaks on the dishes and the build-up of limescale.
These are just a few practical uses of foil that are worth implementing in your home. It can also be successfully used for ironing. Lay it directly on the board with the shiny side up, then stretch a cover over it. The foil will reflect the heat, significantly speeding up and facilitating ironing.
