Bridget Jones returns: Zellweger leads a Valentine's treat
After nine years since the third instalment, Bridget Jones fans will delight in new adventures of their favourite heroine. Renée Zellweger will once again step into the role, following a five-year hiatus from major productions after winning an Oscar for her performance in "Judy".
Renée Zellweger reprises the role of Bridget Jones, who this time must come to terms with Mark Darcy's death and seek love anew. The film will premiere on 13 February 2025 on the Peacock platform. In Europe, it will be shown in cinemas.
The first trailer for "Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy" has just been released online. In this instalment, Bridget grapples with the heart-wrenching experience of losing Mark Darcy (Colin Firth). The trailer shows that Jones is now a widow with two teenage children.
Two potential suitors emerge on the horizon. The first is Mr. Wallaker (Chiwetel Ejiofor), a teacher at her children's school, who appears to be an ideal match. The second is the youthful and unpredictable Roxster (Leo Woodall), who captivates Bridget with his vibrant energy despite a notable age difference.
New film, old cast
The film will showcase many familiar faces from previous parts. Hugh Grant returns as the charismatic Daniel Cleaver, Jim Broadbent as Bridget's father, Gemma Jones as her mother, Emma Thompson as Dr. Rawlings, Sarah Solemani, Sally Phillips, James Callis, and Shirley Henderson as Bridget's friends.
The cast also introduces new talents: Leila Farzad, Isla Fisher, Josette Simon, and Nico Parker. Michael Morris, known for his work on Better Call Saul and 13 Reasons Why, directs the film. The script is based on the novel by Helen Fielding, who collaborated on it with Abi Morgan and Dan Mazer.
"Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy" will debut exclusively on the Peacock platform in the United States on 13 February 2025, just ahead of Valentine's Day.
