Oyster mushrooms are an excellent alternative to traditional meat dishes. Their delicate texture and ability to absorb flavours make them an excellent main ingredient in many dishes. In particular, breaded oyster mushrooms have become a real hit at house parties, attracting attention from vegetarians and meat-eaters. I guarantee that it is fried like chicken and served with aromatic sauce. Oyster mushrooms will satisfy every palate.

How to make breaded oyster mushrooms?

Preparing breaded oyster mushrooms is very simple. You only need a few ingredients:

  • Oyster mushrooms,
  • Egg,
  • Flour,
  • Breadcrumbs,
  • Salt,
  • Oil for frying.

Preparation method:

  1. Rinse the oyster mushrooms and dry them with a paper towel. Cut them into slices about 1.25 cm thick.
  2. Salt the oyster mushrooms on both sides and set aside for a few minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, beat the egg.
  4. On a plate, spread out the flour and breadcrumbs.
  5. Coat each slice of oyster mushroom first in the flour, then in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumbs.
  6. Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat.
  7. Fry the oyster mushrooms until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  8. Place the fried oyster mushrooms on a paper kitchen towel to drain excess oil.

Additional tips:

  • You can add your favourite spices to the breading, such as sweet paprika, hot paprika, granulated garlic, or Herbes de Provence.
  • Instead of breadcrumbs, you can use cornflakes or oat bran.
  • You can also bake breaded oyster mushrooms in the oven. Preheat the oven to 200°C and bake the mushrooms for about 20 minutes, until golden brown.

You can serve breaded oyster mushrooms with various sauces, such as garlic, yoghurt, or tomato sauce. You can also sprinkle them with fresh herbs like parsley or dill.
