Biden steps aside: Chuck Schumer praises move: "Joe, today shows you are a true patriot and great American"

Democratic leader in the U.S. Senate, Chuck Schumer, praised Joe Biden on Sunday for his decision to withdraw from running for the office of President of the United States. He stated that Biden is a "great patriot."

"His decision of course was not easy, but he once again put his country, his party, and our future first," declared the Democratic leader in the Senate.

"Joe, today shows you are a true patriot and great American," emphasized Chuck Schumer.

Earlier on Sunday, 81-year-old Biden announced on Platform X that he is withdrawing from seeking re-election to the highest office in the nation.

U.S. President Joe Biden announced his decision regarding the presidential election. He declared that he was giving up his efforts for re-election. "I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term," stated Biden.

For several days, the media reported that Joe Biden would withdraw from seeking re-election this weekend. This was reportedly related to the enormous pressure, which in recent days "became unbearable," reported the American portal Axios.

81-year-old Joe Biden won support from 99 percent of delegates in the Democratic primaries. Over 35 members of Congress called on him to withdraw from running. So far, however, he had ignored their appeals.
