As reported by the Associated Press, President Joe Biden called President-elect Donald Trump to congratulate him on his election victory.
Biden has also invited Trump to the White House. According to a representative from the administration, the meeting will take place "in the near future."
Biden intends to issue a statement regarding the presidential election results. Earlier, he also spoke with the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and congratulated her on her campaign.
Trump returns to the White House
The counting of votes cast in the presidential election is still ongoing. However, it is already known that Donald Trump has secured the 270 electoral votes required for victory. Thus, he defeated Kamala Harris and will once again become the occupant of the White House.
Trump was previously president when he unexpectedly defeated Hillary Clinton in 2016. In 2020, he did not secure re-election—losing to Joe Biden. Trump and his supporters argued that the election was rigged, leading to numerous riots and the infamous "storming of the Capitol" by Republican voters.
In these elections as well, Trump suggested that fraud would occur. However, he stopped making accusations after achieving victory.
