A 22-year-old from Bavaria decided to "store" his luggage in one of the station shops. Unfortunately for him, an employee found the backpack and informed the police. Bomb disposal experts were called to the scene, and the main hall was closed to travellers. Now, the fan faces a hefty fine.

Deutsche Welle reports that the man arrived at Dortmund Central Station on 22 June. That day, he wanted to attend the European Championships match between Portugal and Turkey.

The young fan didn't find a place in the luggage storage, so he decided to leave his luggage on a shelf in the chemist's. The backpack was not signed, and no tags were found that could help identify the owner. Therefore, the shop employee called the authorities.

Federal police reported that the luggage could not be checked and classified as harmless. Bomb disposal specialists arrived at the scene. The station was closed to passengers for a whole hour. It turned out that the backpack contained only clothes belonging to the careless fan.

Deutsche Welle says the man faces compensation payments from the railway companies and a fine from the Federal Police.
