Not everyone is happy about going back to school. This can also be concerning for parents who have to get creative with their kids' meals. Cheese sandwich? Ham sandwich? And so on. The chicken paste is an easy and delicious alternative.
Chicken paste, like egg paste, has many advantages: it’s cheap, easy to prepare, and delicious and healthy! Just look in the fridge to see what we have—leftover chicken from making broth or perhaps roasted chicken?
The meat is not as important as the spices. Be cautious with spices, as a child’s sensitive stomach may react differently. Instead of pepper and hot paprika, let's use mustard, mayonnaise, and pickles.
Meaty sandwich paste: quick and nutritious snack
To make the paste, we need 140 g of skinless chicken meat, 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, a teaspoon of mustard, 1-2 pickles, half a bunch of chives, 4 boiled eggs, and salt and pepper to taste.
The meat should be shredded with a fork into the smallest possible pieces and placed in a large bowl. Grate the eggs and pickles on a coarse grater and add them to the meat. Chop the chives and add them to the bowl. Then, add the mustard and mayonnaise. Mix everything and season with salt and pepper.
The paste tastes best served with fresh bread, slices of ripe tomato, or any lettuce leaf. It can also be garnished with cucumber and dill, for example.
The paste’s consistency and taste may resemble pâté, but it is much easier to prepare. The ingredients are not overly processed, so they retain their properties, vitamins, and minerals.
