"American Psycho", originally a novel by Bret Easton Ellis, is a satire on the consumerism and materialism of the 1980s. The story of Patrick Bateman, a Wall Street yuppie and maniacal murderer, gained enormous popularity thanks to the 2000 film adaptation, in which the lead role was played by Christian Bale. However, Guadagnino's upcoming film will not be a typical remake of that picture, but rather a new interpretation of the novel.

Luca Guadagnino is a creator known for subtle, emotional portrayals of characters and his unique approach to various film genres.
