The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) reported on Sunday that 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, a resident of Pennsylvania, is a "person involved" in the failed assassination attempt on former U.S. President Donald Trump. The man died at the scene.

Donald Trump was shot in the ear on Saturday during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Two people were killed, including the assailant, and two others were seriously injured. The condition of the Republican candidate is stable.

According to the FBI, Crooks lived in Bethel Park near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The newspaper "The Washington Post" reports, citing voter registration records in the state, that Crooks was a voter for the Republican Party. According to the AP agency, campaign finance reports show that on 20 January 2021, the day of Joe Biden's inauguration as President of the United States, the man donated £12 to a political action committee (PAC) supporting the Democratic Party.

The Bloomberg agency reminds readers that Saturday's assassination attempt on Donald Trump is another act of political violence in the United States. Trump himself was already the target of an assassination attempt in 2016. In U.S. history, several presidents have been assassinated.
