A close associate of the musician has been charged with "abandonment of a person followed by death and supplying and facilitating the use of narcotics." Additionally, a hotel employee and a drug dealer have been charged with supplying drugs.
According to the prosecutor, the autopsy report indicates that Payne may have been in a state of semi-consciousness or complete unconsciousness. The prosecutor claims this rules out the possibility of Payne's deliberate action. It was determined that the musician was unaware of his actions during the incident.
