The world will soon hear about a new processor in the iPhone 17 Pro that is planned for next year. Advanced manufacturing technology will bring a significant increase in performance and make this Apple smartphone model more energy-efficient.

Although the launch of the iPhone 16 is still six months away, the internet is already buzzing with news about the next model. The iPhone 17 Pro could mark a significant milestone in the smartphone industry, thanks to the processor it will feature. This will be the world's first 2-nanometer ARM chipset, which should simplify the decision on which iPhone model to choose.

In today’s tech landscape, there's fierce competition for the title of the most powerful smartphone on the market. Competitors include Qualcomm and MediaTek, which provide chipsets for various Android phone models, and Google and Samsung, which develop their own, albeit less efficient, Tensor G3 and Exynos 2400 systems. At the forefront of the most powerful smartphones each year are the latest iPhone models in the Pro and Pro Max variants, equipped with Apple’s proprietary processors designed for its mobile devices.

The best method for comparing different systems is, without a doubt, practical testing. Various performance tests and user experiences show which model is the fastest. Factors like the number of cores or the clock speed often become less crucial. Although it might seem that "the more, the better," in practice, other technical aspects of the device often hold more importance than simple "numbers."

Will the iPhone 17 Pro have a 2nm thick ARM processor? At present, the most advanced processors are manufactured using 4-nanometer technology. The latest Apple A17 Pro is the exception, employed in the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max, which uses a 3-nanometer process. This makes it more modern and efficient, allowing for "packing" more power into a smaller area.

In less than two years, the iPhone 17 Pro, equipped with a breakthrough processor made with a 2-nanometer process, will be launched. This signifies another leap towards superior performance, and the iPhone 17 Pro may significantly outshine its competitors. According to DigiTimes, the Apple A19 Pro processor will be the first chip produced by TSMC with a 2-nanometer structure width.

The 2nm processor in the next iPhone promises to reduce energy consumption by 25-30% compared to the currently used 3-nanometer technology. Performance is expected to improve by 10-15% compared to 3-nanometer processors.

New processors, developed as part of the TSMC N2 technology, will enter production in mid-2025. In contrast to the currently used 3-nm (N3E) process, the density of packed transistors will increase by 15%.

Next year, Apple's competitors will still be using the 3-nanometer process (TSMC N3P and TSMC N3X) and are unlikely to match the performance and efficiency that next year's iPhone 17 Pro will offer.
