Andrew Garfield steals spotlight with Florence Pugh cutout
Florence Pugh couldn't attend the London premiere of her new film, "We Live in Time," but Andrew Garfield ensured her absence was hardly noticed.
At the London Film Festival premiere, Andrew Garfield arrived on the red carpet with a life-size cardboard cutout of Florence Pugh. The actor posed alongside it for photographs, bringing smiles to the onlookers.
Florence Pugh, who couldn't attend the event, appreciated Garfield's gesture. On her Instagram, she wrote, "It really pains me that I can't be there to celebrate the premiere, but I'm toasting from afar. Love to you all." The actress found her colleague's joke "brilliant" and added, "Bravo, Andrew."
What is "We Live in Time" about?
"We Live in Time" tells the story of Tobias (Andrew Garfield) and Almut (Florence Pugh), who meet under unusual circumstances when Almut accidentally hits Tobias with her car. The film explores their romance and challenges, including Almut's cancer diagnosis.
The film, directed by John Crowley, premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6th, where it received a standing ovation. It has already been released in select cinemas worldwide. The Polish premiere is scheduled for January 3rd, 2025.
While promoting the film, Garfield talked about the unexpectedly intense scenes he and Pugh filmed, explaining that creating such moments requires deep emotional engagement to portray the characters' emotions authentically. He mentioned that during rehearsals, the scenes were carefully choreographed. Still, once they started filming, he and Pugh felt comfortable enough to push the scene beyond what was originally planned. Not hearing the director call 'cut,' they continued to act, feeling secure in the process, as Garfield shared in an interview with Josh Horowitz.
