Acacia flowers. What's the secret?

They are admired for their attractive appearance and pleasant fragrance; they are a source of numerous compounds that positively impact health and beauty. Dried acacia flowers can be used in many ways—from preparing aromatic teas to relaxing baths to incorporating them as tasty additions to dishes, such as jams.

With acacia, you don't need expensive and complicated methods to care for your health and appearance—the secret lies in the enchanting flowers, especially the variety of Robinia pseudoacacia.

They have many health benefits, acting as an anti-inflammatory, supporting kidney function, and improving bile flow. They also aid digestion, ease bowel movements, and enhance digestive processes. Acacia flowers help combat stress—tea from their flowers calms aids sleep and reduces nervous tension.

Excellent aroma of acacia

Acacia flowers are distinguished by a sweet, floral fragrance, making them ideal additions to aromatherapy. Thanks to their easy availability in parks and forests, collecting them is simple and convenient.

How to use acacia flowers?

You can prepare tea from acacia flowers. Just pour hot water (a glass) over a tablespoon of fresh or dried acacia flowers and let it steep for 15 minutes. The tea should be drunk warm, 2-3 times a day. These flowers are also great for baths—add 2-3 cups of acacia flower infusion to a warm bath and relax for 15-20 minutes. Another way to use these flowers is to prepare a refreshing mist. Pour acacia flower infusion into a spray bottle, add some apple cider vinegar, and use it to refresh your face or body.

Acacia in the kitchen

Acacia flowers can be added to a variety of baked goods, such as yeast cakes and sponge cakes, ice cream, and other desserts. You can also prepare jams from them—after boiling acacia petals in sugar syrup, place them in jars and preserve them.

Where to collect acacia flowers?

When collecting acacia flowers, it is best to choose a dry and sunny day and pick them gently so as not to damage the delicate petals, preferably away from busy roads. Once brought home, the petals should be separated from the stems and laid on paper towels to dry. This is necessary for further storage.

How to dry acacia flowers?

The best way to dry the flowers is in a mushroom dryer or traditional attics and sheds, at about 30 degrees Celsius, laying them on racks or screens to ensure free air access. Store the dried flowers in an airtight container in a dark and dry place.

Watch out for acacia leaves

It's important to remember that only acacia flowers have health benefits and can be used in the kitchen. Other parts of the plant, such as leaves, stems, or bark, can be harmful as they contain toxic substances. Therefore, when collecting acacia flowers, be careful not to bring these potentially harmful parts home accidentally.
