A Bad Day for Putin. U.S. Backs Ukraine with Historic Financial Aid
Dmytro Kuleba, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commented on the landmark decision of the US House of Representatives regarding a new financial aid package for Ukraine. In his comment, he called this day "a bad day for Putin." The "Ukrainska Pravda" portal reported this information.
"A bad day for Putin. A bad day for anyone who dared to believe that America could waver when it comes to defending what and who it stands for. We are grateful to the US House of Representatives, its Speaker and members of both parties for passing the long-awaited Ukraine aid bill. Everyone who made this decision a reality made the right choice. The United States has reaffirmed its global leadership," wrote Dmytro Kuleba.
The head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Ukraine now expects the act to be quickly approved by the US Senate and then signed by President Joe Biden. Kuleba added that granting financial aid for £50 billion will positively impact the morale of Ukrainian soldiers fighting on the front line.
Landmark US decision
On Saturday, the US House of Representatives voted for a new financial aid package for Ukraine by a vote of 311 to 112. The House also voted for a law on confiscating Russian assets frozen in US banks for Ukraine. Their estimated value ranges from £4 billion to £6.5 billion.
Gen. Waldemar Skrzypczak emphasizes that what is now critical is how quickly support from the US will reach Kyiv. "Ukraine is in a critical situation - it lacks ammunition and anti-aircraft missiles and, in connection with what the Russians are doing, is close to annihilation without immediate help," he warns.
