Media commentary on the conversations between the President of Ukraine and global leaders on the occasion of the UN summit in New York continues unabated. According to "El Pais," Volodymyr Zelenskyy had another goal. He travelled to the USA five weeks before the presidential elections in that country, preparing for potential peace negotiations with Russia, assessed the Spanish newspaper.

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented a "victory plan" during his visit to the USA for the war with the Russian Federation. The first comments were about this plan. As "The Wall Street Journal" reported, the Biden administration is concerned that Zelenskyy's "victory plan" is not based on a comprehensive strategy. According to them, it is nothing more than a repackaged request for more weapons and lifting restrictions on long-range missiles.

The Spanish newspaper "El Pais" went a step further. According to journalists, Zelenskyy "is preparing for the worst," which means peace with Russia. And that is supposed to be the goal of the conducted talks.

Zelenskyy "ready for the worst"

"El Pais" noted that after two and a half years of conflict with the Kremlin, Ukraine is reaching the limits of its capabilities, facing a winter with severe restrictions on electricity supplies due to Russian strategic bombings.

As the newspaper emphasised, in addition to the increasing losses, external pressure is also growing to start negotiations, during which Kyiv may be forced to make "painful concessions."

Therefore, Zelenskyy decided to travel to the USA to "prepare for the worst," namely, the re-election of Donald Trump as president. In the case of a victory by the Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, Kyiv "expects the war to end as soon as possible," predicts "El Pais."

Blackmail by the aggressor

"The war in Ukraine reached a dead end on the battlefield and reached the most dangerous point. The future of Ukraine and the whole of Europe will be uncertain if its allies simply succumb to the aggressor's blackmail," warned the Spanish newspaper.

During his stay overseas, Zelenskyy participated, among other things, in a session of the UN General Assembly and met with presidential candidates in the USA, as well as presented his "victory plan" during talks with American authorities.

According to "El Pais," the President of Ukraine is well aware of the specifics of negotiations in which each side must make concessions, but he will not be able to renounce the security and sovereignty of his country.
