Zelensky to present bold new peace plan to Biden and contenders
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that in September, the plan to end the conflict with Russia would be presented to US President Joe Biden and the candidates for his successor, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
"Kursk operation is one of the points of Ukraine's victory plan," he stated at a press conference in Kyiv, referring to the military operation of his country in this region of Russia that has been ongoing since 6 August.
The four elements of Zelensky's plan
Zelensky described his initiative as the "Ukraine's victory plan". He explained that the project consists of several key elements: the first is actions in the Kursk region, the second is Ukraine's strategic position in the global security infrastructure, the third concerns diplomatic means to force Russia to end the war, and the fourth pertains to the economy.
The President emphasised that at this moment, he cannot reveal the details of the plan, as he intends to first present it to Joe Biden.
"It will be fair if I first present this plan to the US President. The success of this plan depends on him, whether they will give us what is in this plan or not," he explained.
"I think I will present this plan to him at a meeting in September. I also believe that it will be right to hand this plan over to both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Because we have yet to find out who will be the next president of the United States. And we want to implement this plan," Zelensky added.
