Russia did not expect such a strike. A multipurpose Ka-32 helicopter was set ablaze at an airport in Moscow. This marks the first occurrence of such an action since the onset of the war. The most astonishing aspect of this story is the identity of those behind the arson of the Russian helicopter.

Ukrainians are striving by all means to conduct strikes on targets within Russia. This forces the aggressor to be wary of threats even on its soil and to safeguard significant strategic locations deep within the country.

It's not solely fuel depots or drone factories that are targeted. On this occasion, a multipurpose Ka-32 helicopter in Moscow was torched.

Helicopter set ablaze in Moscow by Russians

The most surprising aspect of this incident at the Moscow military airport is the perpetrators' identity, according to "The Moscow Times", five young Russians aged 19 to 22 stand accused of the attack. On Tuesday, the alleged perpetrators were presented before the court.

The young Russians face charges of terrorist activity. According to initial findings, the group's informal leader, a Russian citizen, Stanislav Khamidulin, allegedly set the helicopter alight following a promise of a reward from Ukrainian intelligence services. The entire group is to be held in custody temporarily.

Reports by the Telegram channel Baza, presumed to have connections with Russian security forces, indicate that the accused individuals hail from various parts of the country - from Novosibirsk in Siberia, the city of Norilsk beyond the Arctic Circle, and the Rostov region in European Russia.

First incident of its kind in Russia since the war commenced

It is important to recall that the successful attack on Ostafievo airport in Moscow was publicly acknowledged on April 26 by Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR). The site is under the guardianship of the Russian Ministry of Defence. The multipurpose Ka-32 helicopter was annihilated, and HUR underscored that it was exactly this type of aircraft that was employed during the invasion of Ukraine. A video showcasing the deed subsequently surfaced online.

Notably, the demolition of the helicopter constitutes the first verified instance of the destruction of Russian arms or military equipment in Moscow since the onset of the war in Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022. It turns out that HUR can reach Russians even in places where they believe themselves to be secure.
