Xi's choice: A Chinese ride over Russian Aurus at BRICS summit
During the BRICS summit taking place in Kazan, Chinese President Xi Jinping declined the use of a Russian Aurus limousine. Cars of this brand are favourites of Vladimir Putin. However, Xi chose a different vehicle, a Chinese car.
At the BRICS summit, which is occurring in Kazan, Russia, some foreign leaders opted to use the Russian Aurus car, in which Putin is chauffeured. However, information provided by "The Moscow Times" indicates that Chinese President Xi Jinping decided to forgo the Russian automotive offer.
Instead, Xi Jinping chose to travel in a Hongqi limousine.
This is a brand of Chinese luxury cars. The name Hongqi means "red flag" and refers to communist movements. Established in 1959, Hongqi is the oldest passenger car brand in China.
BRICS summit in Kazan. Putin on "world order"
The BRICS summit will last three days, with representatives from over 30 countries participating. Russian President Vladimir Putin stated in Kazan that Moscow and Beijing will collaborate to establish a "fair world order."
The group of countries united in BRICS includes, in addition to Russia and China, Brazil, India, South Africa, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, and the United Arab Emirates.
Commentators point out that Putin will want to demonstrate in Kazan that, contrary to what the West says, Russia is not isolated on the international stage.
