Woman in panic takes to wing on Alaska Airlines flight in Seattle
A woman experiencing a panic attack stepped onto the wing of an Alaska Airlines plane. A recording of the incident has surfaced online.
The footage, shown by local police, captures the moment when a woman steps onto the wing of an Alaska Airlines plane that had landed in Seattle. The Boeing 737 had arrived from Milwaukee.
Immediately after landing, one of the passengers opened the emergency exit to get outside. The woman, dressed in a red shirt and dark trousers with a backpack on her shoulder, approached the edge of the wing and tried to get down to the ground. However, she slipped and sat on the wing, then began waving to airport workers.
The passenger spent almost a minute on the wing before she was noticed by airport workers. The operation by the services lasted an additional 12 minutes. Eventually, firefighters helped her down using a ladder.
Alaska Airlines confirmed the incident involving a "disruptive passenger." The crisis team responded, and the passenger was taken to hospital for evaluation. Doctors determined that her actions were caused by an anxiety attack.
Opened the door before takeoff
The "Daily Mail" recalls another such incident. A previous one occurred onboard an Air Canada flight, when a passenger opened the door just before takeoff and fell from a height of about 6 metres onto the airport tarmac. The Boeing 777 was scheduled to depart from Toronto to Dubai. The event caused a six-hour delay.
Local authorities reported that the man was in a "state of crisis." Despite the fall, the passenger sustained relatively minor injuries. He was transported to hospital.
