Many Wizz Air passengers encountered an unpleasant surprise. Their flights were suddenly cancelled or changed without prior notice. The situation caused chaos and complaints from travellers.
Travellers complained about informational chaos and cancelled flights
Customers can't find out what is happening with their reservations. In many cases, there were no clear explanations, causing frustration for thousands of people who had planned their trips.
The reactions to the problem were intense, and passengers used social media to complain about the airline's lack of response. One outraged customer wrote on Twitter that he spent "hours sitting on the floor of terminal" without receiving any information about the alleged flight cancellation.
Other travellers expressed their dissatisfaction with the lack of access to basic information, calling the airline's lack of response "disgraceful."
Wizz Air's reservation system failure
The Hungarian carrier finally issued a vague statement regarding the problems with the reservation system. According to the statement published by Wizz Air on the X platform, travellers may notice changes in their reservations on the website or in the app. Passengers were instructed to ignore these changes and assured that the problem is being resolved.
"Why did you change the flight time from Luton to Tirana from 19:30 to 22:40? Could have made it 20:00 but why so late?" wrote one user on the portal. "Still no info on why flights from Naples were cancelled? Hours sitting on the floor of terminal with no information and not even a bottle of water. Disgraceful," commented someone else.
Wizz Air apologises to travellers and works on the glitch
The problem seems to be affecting flights from and to cities such as Istanbul, Jordan, and Albania, and travellers are still complaining about the airline's lack of specifics and unclear communication.
"Dear customers, we are experiencing a technical issue affecting our booking system. As a result, you may notice changes to your booking on the app or website or receive related notifications. Please disregard these changes, and rest assured that we will update you as soon as the issue is resolved. Our team works diligently to fix the problem and restore the affected flights. Thank you for your understanding and patience, Wizz Air," conveyed a Wizz Air spokesperson to the The Sun portal.
