School closures announced in Washington
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), communication with blizzard warnings has been issued to over 4 million people in certain areas of Kansas, Nebraska, and Missouri.
Travel on the roads in Kentucky and Indiana is also considered hazardous. At Blue Grass Airport in Lexington, all departures and arrivals have been cancelled in Kentucky.
Washington, Baltimore, and Philadelphia are among the major cities preparing for extreme snowy and icy conditions in the coming days. School closures have been announced in Washington. Snowfall is forecast to exceed 30 centimetres in some parts of Virginia.
Problems in the southern part of the country
Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi are experiencing storms, severe frost, and temperatures that residents in some parts of the South are not accustomed to. In certain regions of Mississippi, a tornado warning was in effect for part of Sunday.
According to the electricity distributor, Poweroutage.US, about 80,000 customers in the South and Midwest were without power. Approximately 30,000 of them are in Missouri, 18,000 in Texas, and more than 10,500 in Louisiana, Kentucky, and Illinois.
