Puff pastry is the perfect ally for busy people or those who do not feel particularly confident in baking. It can be prepared savoury or served sweet—the options are truly endless. Paired with custard cream and fresh fruit, it transforms into a delicious dessert that even French patisseries would be proud of.
Puff pastry with blueberries
Combining sweet custard and fresh blueberries is a classic that always works. Add flaky, delicate puff pastry, and it's ready. The preparation involves simple steps: cutting shapes from the pastry, baking, preparing the custard, and assembling the dessert. This is a great option for seasoned sweet lovers and those just beginning their baking journey.
You can replace blueberries with raspberries or currants, whose slightly tart taste will wonderfully balance the sweetness of the other ingredients. It’s simple, quick, and, most importantly, really tasty.
Ingredients:
- 1 puff pastry
- 120 ml of milk
- 1 vanilla pudding mix
- 480 ml of milk
- 1 egg yolk
Extras:
- 100 grams of American blueberries
Preparation method:
Step 1. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a countertop. Use a large bowl to cut out circles. Then, use a smaller bowl to cut out the centres in half.
Step 2. Place the rings on the full circles. Brush with beaten egg yolk and place in the oven preheated to 200°C for about 13 minutes. Set aside to cool.
Step 3. Dissolve the pudding mix in 120 ml of milk. Bring the remaining milk to a boil, add the mixture, and heat until the custard forms. Set aside to cool.
Step 4. Take the centres out of the baked and cooled pastries and fill them with custard.
Step 5. Add fresh blueberries and decorate with a mint leaf. Enjoy!
