WhatsApp tests QR code access and chat filters for easier use
WhatsApp has introduced a new feature to the test version of its messenger. Users now have the option to use QR codes for channel management, potentially speeding up access to the most relevant information.
WhatsApp has made this new option available to users, providing a more convenient method for searching for channels. Although it currently applies only to test users, it enables more efficient information discovery. Instead of using the text search function, a WhatsApp user can scan a QR code to reach a specific group much faster. Similarly, users can be invited to follow, as reported by WABetaInfo.
Making QR codes available to share links to channels can also help users share them in various ways, such as on printed business cards. This can facilitate business development and encourage WhatsApp users to make contact through the messenger.
One of the upcoming features of WhatsApp is chat filtering, which will allow users to organise conversations according to personal preferences. It is anticipated that this will enable users to sort conversations into different categories, such as professional and personal chats. Currently, this feature is still in the beta testing phase and is available only to a limited group of users.
In addition to chat management, WhatsApp is also introducing a new image search option directly from the app. After receiving a picture, besides being able to save or edit it, the user will be able to use the search option on the web. This process, similar to Google's Lens feature, will facilitate finding additional information about the image, such as during online shopping.
