In Berlin, discussions in the Weimar Triangle format took place on Friday with the participation of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
After the Weimar Triangle meeting
In the evening, a picture of all three politicians talking, along with a post referring to the meeting, was shared in German, Polish, and French on the X platform by the French president.
"France, Germany, and Poland, together, determined to support Ukraine at every level in the long term and never to let Russia win. For our security, for Europe. Our unity is our strength," wrote Emmanuel Macron.
An earlier post referring to this meeting, also in three languages, was made by the German chancellor.
"France, Germany, Poland – the Weimar Triangle at the heart of Europe is a very important sign of our cohesion. Now more relevant than ever, the principle: Our strength is in our unity. Ukrainians can rely on us," wrote Olaf Scholz.
A post about the meeting in English was also shared on the X platform by Prime Minister Donald Tusk, who emphasized that "rumors of the Weimar Triangle's death are greatly exaggerated". The post included a group photo with Scholz and Macron.
Founded in 1991, the Weimar Triangle serves as a platform for cooperation and dialogue between Poland, Germany, and France. It initially focused on supporting the systemic transformation of Poland and its integration with the EU. Now, the Triangle evolves in response to changing political realities.
