Soldiers from the American contingent positioned near the oil field in Al-Omar, in the east of the country, were the target of a rocket attack on Tuesday evening, as per Middle Eastern press reports citing Russian agencies.

Reportedly, the US base was hit by two rockets in less than an hour. This was followed closely by a further three rockets. The American forces were unable to intercept them. Reports suggest that they responded, with rockets landing in the desert near Al-Majadin city in Dair az-Zor province. Presently, there is no information available concerning casualties.

"No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. However, since the start of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, the Iraqi Resistance Movement (IRI) has regularly targeted American military bases in Iraq and Syria," reports the Kurdish 'Shafaq News'.

According to estimations, since the beginning of Israel's conflict with Palestinian group Hamas, American bases in the Middle East have faced attack 185 times, with 116 of these incidents occurring in Syria. A drone attack on Tower 22, an American base in Jordan, resulted in the death of three American soldiers and injuries to several dozen others.

The Pentagon has revealed that since October 18, around 186 Americans have lost their lives in Syria, Iraq, and Jordan. "Since February 4, our soldiers have not experienced any attacks," emphasized Assistant Press Secretary of the US Department of Defense, Sabrina Singh, on Tuesday. "Our troops are there to continue with their mission," Singh expressed hope that this marked the end of the bombardment.
