Urgent Western action needed to thwart Putin's threat to NATO, warns ex‑Ukrainian vice minister

Ukrainian politician Inna Sovsun contends that if the West fails to act now by arming Volodymyr Zelensky to halt Putin's advances, the Russian President may turn his tanks towards Poland and the Baltic countries.

Inna Sovsun likens her nation's predicament to Great Britain's with Adolf Hitler in 1939, underlining that the fight would be futile without the military backing of the USA.

"I believe people should remember how they felt on the 24th of February 2022 and carry that feeling forward. The majority perceived a universal sense of inequity inflicted upon the Ukrainian nation," Sovsun confided in Express.co.uk.

Sovsun, the politician, avers that Putin's ambitions threaten even those countries that are not directly impacted by the war.

"Even if he's not launching rockets at your country, it doesn't imply that he doesn't aim to annihilate you. People must not forget that. We are not only fighting for ourselves but also the world; the world needs to recognise the level of danger it's in," she adds.

The former vice minister of education stresses that Putin's intent isn't merely to harm Ukrainians. He intends to destabilize the entire organized world, and she believes people are overlooking this fact.

Sovsun on the USA

Sovsun echoed the concerns of Ukrainian President Zelensky about the ongoing debates in the United States regarding the financing of military aid for Ukraine.

"Our very existence is contingent on it. We wouldn't be capable of combating without the military backing of the United States, it's as clear as that," she concludes.
