Solve the age-old question: spaghetti or lasagne? With this recipe, you can prepare both gourmet treasures at the same time
Ingredients:
Bolognese sauce:
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil,
- 397g of ground beef,
- 142g of raw bacon,
- 1 large onion,
- 3 celery stalks,
- 3 carrots,
- 4 cloves of garlic,
- 142g of red wine,
- 680g of tomato passata,
- 170g of vegetable or meat broth.
Add-ons:
- 283g of cooked spaghetti,
- 482g of béchamel,
- 198g of grated mozzarella.
Instructions:
Step 1. I start with the preparation of homemade bolognese sauce. I mix heated olive oil, ground beef, and chopped bacon slices in a pot on a burner.
I fry the ingredients for a few minutes, occasionally stirring the pot content.
Step 2. After a few minutes, I also add peeled and chopped vegetables into the pot. First, I put in the onion, followed by the celery and carrot.
Concurrently, I don't forget about garlic cloves which I also peel and crush.
Step 3. I add red wine, tomato passata, salt and pepper into the pot. The last ingredients to be added to the pot are fresh basil leaves and homemade broth.
I then slow cook this mixture for 2 hours on low heat, with the lid on. I stir the pot every 20 minutes to prevent burning.
Step 4. In the meanwhile, I prepare homemade béchamel sauce, which is essential in flavourful lasagne. I also boil spaghetti in salted water until al dente. I then transfer the drained pasta into a baking dish.
Step 5. I pour the creamy sauce directly onto the pasta and blend both ingredients using a pasta spoon. But, the preparations for today don't end here. I add another layer in the baking dish with meat and vegetable sauce.
Step 6. I conclude the dish by sprinkling grated mozzarella on top. I then place the baking dish into a preheated oven for 10 minutes. The oven should be set at 200 degrees Celsius during this time.
Step 7. Lastly, I serve the prepared dish with a sprig of fresh basil. Bon appétit!
