When formulating a shopping list, we frequently concentrate solely on products that we use the most. Of course, there's nothing wrong with this. However, introducing some new items occasionally is an excellent idea, providing many considerable benefits.

The situation today is no different. Shortly, you'll discover why it's beneficial to incorporate tiny amaranth seeds into your diet. Moreover, I'll share a tried-and-true recipe for a delicious breakfast that can occasionally substitute for a classic oatmeal. Let's begin!

What's special about amaranth?

On first inspection, amaranth seeds appear quite ordinary, but do not be deceived. They actually hold immense nutritional value. Furthermore, this product could be beneficial in the struggle against undesired weight gain.

In these seeds, you can discover, among other things, healthy fatty acids that can aid heart function. A plentiful supply of vitamins from the B group and minerals such as iron, calcium, and magnesium, is also present. Simultaneously, the product is gluten-free. Amaranth is also a superb source of protein and fiber. Speaking of fiber, it's worth mentioning that these seeds not only enhance the digestive process but are also very satisfying, assisting with weight loss. 

Nourishing amaranth breakfast

Now that you're aware of the advantages of including these little seeds in your diet, we should discuss how to use them. There are various possibilities, as this product can be added to salads and soups. Using amaranth flour, you can also make homemade bread, various types of baked goods, and pancake batter. Additionally, this product will contribute to creating a healthy and nutritious breakfast.

Ingredients:

  • 200 grams of amaranth,
  • 450 millilitres of boiling water,
  • 60 millilitres of plain or Greek yogurt,
  • an assortment of fruits,
  • nuts,
  • honey (optional). 

Preparation:

  1. Initiate the recipe by rinsing the amaranth seeds to eliminate any bitterness. 
  2. Then pour the boiling water into the rinsed grains and simmer the mixture on low heat for approximately 25 minutes
  3. Upon completion, introduce yogurt into the pot and mix the contents thoroughly. 
  4. Before serving, garnish the breakfast with fresh fruit and nuts. If you prefer, you may also incorporate a small amount of honey. Enjoy your meal!
